Community Guidelines

Fostering a professional, respectful, and creative global DJ community.

1. Welcome & Purpose

Welcome to DJ.COMMUNITY, the global hub for DJs, event organizers, and music enthusiasts. Our mission is to provide a professional and supportive platform for connection, collaboration, and career growth. These guidelines are designed to ensure our community remains a safe, respectful, and constructive space for everyone. By participating, you agree to uphold these standards.

2. General Conduct

  • Respect and Professionalism: Treat all members with respect, even when you disagree. Professional conduct is expected in all interactions, from forum discussions to booking negotiations.
  • Inclusivity: We are a global community with diverse backgrounds. Harassment, discrimination, hate speech, or bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
  • Constructive Contributions: Aim to add value to the community. Share your knowledge, offer helpful feedback, and engage in discussions that elevate the art and business of DJing.

3. Forum Guidelines

  • Stay On Topic: Keep discussions relevant to the forum category. Create new topics for new subjects.
  • No Spamming: Do not post unsolicited advertisements, promotional materials, or repetitive content. Self-promotion is acceptable only in designated areas or when directly relevant to a discussion.
  • Embedding Content: Our forums support embedding from hundreds of providers. Use this feature to share music, videos, and other relevant media that enhances the discussion. Ensure you have the right to share the content you embed.

4. Booking & Business Etiquette

DJ.COMMUNITY provides tools to facilitate connections and help manage bookings between DJs and clients. Understanding how the booking system works and your responsibilities is essential for successful collaborations.

4.1 Understanding the Booking System

Our platform offers several features to support the booking process:

  • Booking Inquiries: Clients can request bookings, and DJs can accept, decline, or counter-propose terms.
  • Contract Management: Users can create and exchange booking contracts directly through the platform for documentation and clarity.
  • Check-In System: Both DJs and clients can check in at events to confirm attendance and create a transparent record of completed events.
  • Manual Payment Logging: Users can manually log payment confirmations to track financial transactions for their own records.

Important: All these features are tools provided for your convenience. The platform does not verify, validate, or guarantee the accuracy of any user-entered information.

4.2 Financial Transactions

All financial transactions occur directly between DJs and clients, NOT through the platform. DJ.COMMUNITY does not process payments, hold funds, or facilitate any financial transactions. The manual payment logging feature is purely for your own record-keeping purposes. The platform has no involvement in payment arrangements and is not responsible for payment disputes, defaults, or any financial issues.

4.3 Communication Expectations

  • Professional Communication: Maintain professional, clear, and respectful communication throughout the entire booking process, from initial inquiry to post-event follow-up.
  • Prompt Responses: Respond to booking inquiries, questions, and requests in a timely manner. Delays in communication can lead to missed opportunities and frustrated users.
  • Clear Terms: DJs should provide clear information about services, rates, equipment, and requirements. Clients should provide clear event details, expectations, and payment terms.
  • Written Agreements: We strongly encourage the use of written contracts for all bookings to ensure both parties understand and agree to the terms.

4.4 Honesty and Transparency

  • Accurate Service Descriptions: Represent your skills, experience, equipment, and rates accurately. Do not mislead clients about your capabilities.
  • Truthful Availability: Keep your availability calendar accurate. Do not accept bookings you cannot fulfill.
  • Clear Event Details: Clients should provide accurate information about the event, including date, time, location, expected audience, and any special requirements.
  • Honest Check-Ins: Check-ins should only be logged for actual events you attended or performed at. Logging fake check-ins to boost your profile is prohibited.
  • Accurate Payment Logs: Manual payment logs should only reflect actual payments received or made. Do not log fake payments.

4.5 Dispute Resolution

DJ.COMMUNITY is not responsible for mediating or resolving disputes between users. If a dispute arises:

  • Communicate directly and professionally with the other party to attempt resolution.
  • Refer to your contract or written agreement for guidance on dispute resolution procedures.
  • If necessary, seek legal advice or use appropriate legal channels for resolution.
  • The platform provides tools for documentation (contracts, messages, payment logs), but these are for your benefit and do not constitute platform involvement in your agreements.

4.6 Record-Keeping Best Practices

  • Use Contracts: Always create a written contract for bookings, even for small events. This protects both parties and clarifies expectations.
  • Document Communications: Keep records of all important communications, agreements, and changes to terms.
  • Log Payments Accurately: Use the manual payment logging feature to track when payments are received or made, but remember this is for your records only.
  • Save External Documentation: Keep copies of invoices, receipts, and bank transfer confirmations outside of the platform as well.

4.7 Cancellation Policies

  • Clear Policies: DJs should establish and communicate clear cancellation policies, including notice periods and any applicable fees or refund terms.
  • Honor Commitments: Both DJs and clients should honor confirmed bookings whenever possible. If cancellation is unavoidable, provide as much advance notice as possible.
  • Professional Cancellations: If you must cancel, do so professionally and promptly. Explain the situation, apologize for the inconvenience, and work to minimize disruption.
  • Late Cancellations: Cancellations within 7 days of an event may result in reputation penalties. Multiple late cancellations can lead to account restrictions.
  • Emergency Situations: In genuine emergencies, communicate as soon as possible and provide documentation if requested.

4.8 Insurance and Legal Compliance

Users are solely responsible for their own insurance and legal compliance. This includes:

  • Obtaining appropriate liability insurance for events
  • Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and national laws and regulations
  • Obtaining necessary licenses and permits (business licenses, music licenses, etc.)
  • Paying appropriate taxes on income earned
  • Meeting venue requirements and safety standards

DJ.COMMUNITY does not provide insurance coverage and is not responsible for ensuring user compliance with laws and regulations.

4.9 Payment Expectations

  • Timely Payments: Clients should honor payment terms agreed upon with the DJ and make payments on time.
  • Clear Payment Terms: DJs should clearly communicate payment terms, including amounts, deposit requirements, payment methods, and due dates.
  • Payment Disputes: Any payment disputes must be resolved directly between the DJ and client. The platform is not involved in payment processing or dispute resolution.

5. Reputation & Trust System

DJ.COMMUNITY uses a reputation system to build trust within the community. Your reputation score is visible on your profile and affects your standing in the community. All users start at 0 points with a "New" badge.

  • Reputation Tiers: Your points determine your badge level:
    • New: 0-99 points (starting level for all new users)
    • Standard: 100-299 points
    • Reliable: 300-599 points
    • Trusted: 600+ points
    • High Risk: negative points (penalties for violations)
  • Building Reputation: Earn reputation points by completing bookings, receiving positive reviews, getting verified, and participating positively in the community. Each completed booking adds +10 points to your score.
  • Verification: Complete email, phone, and identity verification to earn trust badges. Verified users are more likely to receive bookings.
  • Check-Ins: Both DJs and clients can check in at events to confirm attendance, which contributes to transparency and trust.
  • Manual Payments: Log payment confirmations to create a transparent record of financial transactions without processing payments through the platform.
  • Fair Use: Do not attempt to artificially inflate your reputation through fake bookings or check-ins. Violations will result in reputation penalties and possible account suspension.
  • Cancellations: Late cancellations (within 7 days of the event) may result in reputation penalties. Always communicate professionally and give adequate notice.
